Founded in 1962 by Italian immigrants Mike and Angelina DiNuzzo, Mike’s Pizzeria Lounge & Italian Dinners began as a cozy neighborhood pizza shop at West & Shields, rooted in the flavors, recipes, and hospitality they brought from Italy. Their dream was simple: share honest, handmade Italian food that brought people together—just like the meals they grew up with around the family table.
What started small quickly became a Fresno favorite. Their homemade sauces, hand‑rolled pastas, deep‑fried calzones, and classic Italian comfort dishes created a place where families gathered, friendships were made, and every meal felt like Sunday dinner in an Italian home.
From the early days, the restaurant was truly a family effort, with all the DiNuzzo siblings working side‑by‑side to build the business. Eventually, their son Peter carried the tradition forward, keeping the original recipes, the warm smiles, and the “make‑yourself‑at‑home” feeling alive for the next generation of guests.
Today, the third generation continues the DiNuzzo culinary legacy, such as Peter's son, Andrew DiNuzzo, owner of Roma's Italian Kitchen, honoring Mike and Angelina’s spirit while expanding the family’s footprint in Fresno’s Italian dining community. Yet no matter how much we grow, the heart of our kitchen stays the same: homemade Italian food, prepared with love, just like in Italy.
Still family‑owned.
Still cooked with love.
Still serving the classic Italian dishes that Fresno has cherished for more than 60 years.
